Kentucky Mountain Missions is a home missions program conducted as a ministry of the South Irvine Baptist church of Irvine Kentucky which was started in 1965.
Our purpose is to fulfill the “Great Commission” through the preaching of the Good News of Jesus Christ and the establishment of New Testament Baptist churches.
Our focus is to reach the people of the mountains of Eastern Kentucky with the Message of Salvation that is found only in Jesus Christ; and that is received only by the grace of God, through faith.
The Bible says in the book of Ephesians chapter 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Our method is simply to teach and preach the Bible. We trust the promise of God that if Christ be lifted up… He will draw all men unto Himself. (John 12:32)
The culture and lifestyle in the Appalachian Mountains is very distinct, and in many ways it remains set apart from the rest of the United States. The primary industry centers around the natural resources of timber, natural gas, and coal.
The extreme rural setting and rough terrain in the mountains can pose many challenges in the ministry.
Kentucky Mountain Missions is a ministry supported by faith. Without the help of other churches that give of their time and money towards this much needed work, missionaries could not go into the mountains of Eastern Kentucky with The Gospel.
